Tom Singh was born in rural Trinidad in 1957, the ninth of ten children in a family shaped by both scarcity and strength. His early life was defined by the realities of village living, where survival depended on resourcefulness, and resilience was learned young. After a seventeen-year career in banking, he was medically retired in 1995, marking a turning point that led him back to the land as a coconut farmer and small business owner. While raising two sons who went on to achieve remarkable academic success, he carried with him a lifetime of lived experience. From Darkness to Light is his first book, an honest reflection of the life he’s lived and the lessons it forged.
